EL MERCADO DE LOS MAGOS, continued

 MAGICAL MERCHANDISE

From groceries and clothing, to potions ingredients, brooms, and other magical items, all a witch or wizard's needs can be supplied. Here are a few examples:

Some very peculiar flowers in Bloomheister Florist.

Curious tableware in the Crate & Cauldron.

Magical creatures of all sorts can be purchased in the Mercado. Since the enactment of the Pettigrew Law, every animal sold in the Mercado receives a thorough inspection and is certified by the Ministry of Magic not to be an animagus in hiding.

Pictured:
(Top left) A common waterfowl. These are often allowed free range on the Rio Diagonal.
(Top right) A Texas horned lizard, sometimes called a "horny toad" or "horned frog." Note: Contrary to published reports, horned lizards are not used in potions of any type, due to their endangered status.
(Near left) A young blast-ended skrewt. It is unclear to this correspondent why anyone would want these.

This unusual object appears to be a pickled human brain, but is in fact the fruit of the North American braintree (Arboreus cerebellumus).
It is used in potions to temporarily boost a witch's or wizard's intelligence, but it requires a prescription and is not sold to anyone underage (much to the dismay of wizarding school students during O.W.L.s). This fine example was displayed at Phernando's Pharmacy in the Mercado area.
