SWEETWATER, TEXAS:
The Birthplace of Texas Quidditch

Sweetwater, Texas.
The very name conjures images of the Old West, of cowboys and cattle, roundups and rattlesnakes, cotton, oil, and ...quidditch?

This small city in West Central Texas (located approximately 50 miles west of Abilene) is primarily a farming and ranching community, with a thriving gypsum mining and processing industry. In terms of sport, its interest is keenly attuned to rodeo and high school football. However, another sport--more ancient than rodeo, and more feverishly followed than football--is known by a few to be played at its highest level within a stone's throw of the city limits of Sweetwater--virtually under the noses of its muggle populace.

As I have previously mentioned, West Texas is well known for its high quotient of paranormal activity, so few found it strange that I might be seeking information about the activities of the World Quidditch Cup League team allegedly based in Sweetwater. I was able to find several witnesses who gave me information leading to the probable whereabouts of the All-Stars' playing field, as well as a training gauntlet so rigorous that only Texas wizards could fly it successfully.
