What is Quidditch?

About the Site:

The wizarding sport of quidditch is a subject of great interest to muggles, though we possess no magical ability to participate in the sport as players or even as spectators. Until recently, there was no evidence to support its existence at all. But then, a wizard volume entitled Quidditch Through the Ages by a Mr. Kennilworthy Whisp somehow fell into muggle hands, revealing much about the sport that was heretofore unknown outside of the magical world. In the book it was mentioned that a few World Quidditch Cup League teams are based in North America. One of them is the Sweetwater (Texas) All-Stars.

Traveling regularly as I do on business to this small West Texas city, I grew curious about whether any of its approximately 12,000 non-magical inhabitants had ever witnessed evidence of quidditch activity in the area. Most were puzzled by my discreet questions, but none found it alarming, as West Texas is well known to have an intense amount of what might be regarded as "paranormal" activity.

Some people, however, were quite helpful and eager to share. From the bits of information I gleaned from interviews with many Sweetwater-area residents, I have pieced together some very compelling evidence that not only is professional quidditch being played regularly just outside their town, but that there are other Texas teams competing at the "minor league" and World Quidditch Cup level.

For the present, we shall focus on what little we know about the Sweetwater All-Stars, the premiere quidditch club of Texas, if not the entire United States. Please click here to view the first slide in the presentation.
