It is through the constant vigilance of fellow seekers of knowledge
that almost every day, more evidence is revealed of the interconnectedness
of the muggle world in which we reside and the wizarding world
that lies so close to it, yet so far away. An alert seeker whom
I will call J.R. directed my attention to a Texas location where
owls have been sighted so frequently and in such numbers
that it was plain even to the untrained muggle observer that
something magical was taking place there. My plan was to drive to the area in which the owls were sighted and to follow their flight path as closely as possible. I prepared to journey to this location as soon as I completed my research on the junior quidditch club in Krum, Texas. Then it occurred to me that this was no ordinary assortment of roadside litter. |

Something about the odd variety of items strewn seemingly haphazardly
along the road compelled me to investigate more closely. There
seemed to be something very deliberate about this collection
of items, and a purpose for their being here, so I took the photo
above to study later. Curious about what might be under the picnic
cooler, I reached out to move the small yellow toy and suddenly
I felt as if I were falling through a trap door in the earth.
Panicking, flailing, I was hurled through a vortex of glimmering light and roaring sound, and emerged, largely unscathed, onto the manicured grounds of a university campus--but one unlike any I had ever observed in the muggle world. |
